Flight preparation for pilots

Briefing pack, theory
and instructor in one place

Birdbird is where you prepare a flight and understand every number in it: the briefing pack, the theory behind each page, and an instructor that answers from your own documents.

What is the maximum crosswind for landing?
Instructor

The maximum demonstrated crosswind is 25 kt.AFM 2.10 · p. 2-14

It is a demonstrated value, not a limit. Your SOP may set a lower one.SOP 4.3 · p. 4-7

Your AFM, QRH and SOP stay in this browser.

  • Flight IntelligenceAnswers from your AFM, QRH and SOP, and shows the page it came from.

Type rating and airline prep

Preparation for the next seat: a full type rating trainer for the King Air B200, and the A320 simulator assessment used in airline selection.

What is here

Four parts, one flight

Learn why it works, plan the flight, practise the procedures, and ask when something does not add up.

LEARN

Virtual Lab

25 interactive labs in 9 modules, following the EASA ATPL syllabus. Change the conditions yourself and watch the physics respond, then test your understanding.

PLAN

Briefing pack and Route Explorer

Draw the route and see the profile over the terrain. Then work through aircraft, NOTAM, weather, minima, performance, fuel, mass and balance in a fixed order, and print it as a booklet.

ASK

Flight Intelligence

Your instructor, grounded in your own documents: the flight manual, your SOP, the checklists and the regulations. Each answer shows where it comes from, and your documents stay private in your browser.

How high does your aircraft think it is?

Set the field elevation, the QNH and the temperature. The wing and the engine perform at the density altitude, not at the height on the chart.

ISA model, dry air. Humidity raises the density altitude a little further.

Made by Daniel Nilsson, pilot

I trained as an airline pilot. The hard parts were rarely the flying itself: they were the order of things, and the things you cannot see, like the air over the wing or why the altimeter is wrong on a cold day. Birdbird is the set of tools I wanted, and it keeps growing.

Teaching models, not operational data
  • The labs use simplified physics and typical values. A320 and B200 figures are illustrative, not manufacturer data.
  • Use Birdbird to understand and to prepare. Always follow the AFM, the AIP and your operator’s procedures.
  • Progress and documents are stored in your own browser.
For flight schools and operators

Use Birdbird in ground school and type training

The labs work on a classroom screen, and the briefing pack and the training follow a fixed order that students can repeat on their own. See how a school or an operator can use it.
